Photographed in winter on Hornøya Island near Vardø, these images were shaped by snow and strong winds along the Arctic coastline. Shags gathered on the rocky cliffs, their dark plumage contrasting with the snow, while kittiwakes moved through the cold air above the sea. Watching the birds rest, gather and take flight while the weather moved around them was fascinating. For them, of course, it was simply another winter’s day on Hornøya.
